Polk Miller served in the Confederacy during the American Civil War; this song having been recorded in 1910, 3 years before his death. The song is produced from a Thomas Edison Blue Amberol Cylinder Record as pictured below. Probably Mr. Miller's greatest claim to fame, though, was his home-made remedies that he prepared for his dog "Sergeant."
